Newtown Real Estate & Information

Located in the pristine and idyllically quaint countryside of Bucks County, Pennsylvania, Newtown is a borough with a population of 2,248, according to the 2010 U.S. census.

Newtown is only about 14 miles east of Trenton, New Jersey, and 32 miles northeast of Philadelphia. It is considered part of the greater Philadelphia metro area.

The charming borough of Newtown has burst through its original borders and today plays host to a wide variety of new retail outlets, restaurant options and sparkling corporate centers. However, Newtown has made it a priority to preserve its historical landmarks and magnificent architecture.

Newtown also holds several fun annual events throughout the year, such as Market Day, Strawberry Festival and BrewFest.

Shopping and Dining
Newtown’s State Street – with its spacious sidewalks, unique boutiques and shops, taverns and restaurants – serves as the community’s main commercial hub.

Running parallel to State Street, one block to the west, is North Sycamore Street. There are a wide variety of enchanting, locally owned and operated retail shops, eateries, jewelers, clothiers and boutiques lining the sidewalks up and down this street as well.

Your dining choices in and around Newtown are incredible. Check out some of Newtown’s finest local fare at one of the myriad restaurants in the area, including the Zebra Striped Whale, La Stalla Italian restaurant, The Brick Hotel bed and breakfast, The Temperence House and Oishi.

Parks and Recreation
The acreage in and around Newtown Township is filled with nature centers, parks and playgrounds, ball fields, and walking, biking and jogging trails.

Newtown’s Parks and Recreation Board is responsible for assessing and evaluating the town’s more than 140 acres of park land and 300 acres of open space. The board also manages local active and passive recreational facilities, such as the Clark Nature Center, Roberts Ridge Park and playground and the 3.7-mile Newtown Trail, which unites Tyler State Park to Newtown Township’s Silver Lake Park.

Living
Newtown is recognized as a municipality of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. As such, it is on the National Register of Historic Places.

There are a number of volunteers who generously donate their time on the borough’s local council, performing such duties as overseeing boards and committees, managing local services, supervising budgets and several other community projects.

Schools, Health, Transportation
Newtown’s public school system falls under the jurisdiction of the Council Rock School District. The district serves a number of communities in Bucks County. Newtown’s public schools include Newtown Elementary School, Goodnoe Elementary School, Newtown Middle School and Council Rock High School North.

The medical centers and hospitals that serve the Newtown area include the St. Mary Medical Center, Bucks County Specialty Hospital and Lower Bucks Hospital.
